Missoula County Awards $20,800 in Impact Grants to Rural Organizations

Posted on April 25, 2025

Missoula County is currently accepting grant applications for the Mental Health Fund, which supports local crisis intervention and stabilization services for children and adults experiencing behavioral health crises.

Nonprofit organizations and governmental agencies that provide crisis behavioral health services are encouraged to apply by submitting applications to grants@missoulacounty.us by 5 p.m. Friday, May 23. Eligible costs include operations, personnel, direct services, planning and training. Details and links to the Notice of Funding Availability are available online.

Levied annually, the Mental Health Fund appears on property tax bills as the “county mental health treatment” line item. An estimated $132,838 in funding is available for fiscal year 2026 (July 1, 2025-June 30, 2026). The Missoula County commissioners will determine the final amount of funding available. Missoula County will award up to two organizations with funding based on applications with the highest scores.

“Missoula County’s Mental Health Fund is a great opportunity to provide gap funding for local crisis services,” said Commissioner Juanita Vero. “These services are crucial for providing stability and supporting our continuum of care for people in crisis.”

Previously funded projects include operations assistance to the Mobile Support Team and mental health evaluations at the jail and hospital emergency departments.
