Serve on the Elections Advisory Committee
The Missoula County Elections Advisory Committee advises the Board of County Commissioners and represents the citizens of Missoula County in supporting and enhancing the election process in Missoula County. County residents serve in seven of the positions on this board. These are volunteer positions and the EAC meets four times per year.
Process tours
Ever wonder what happens to your ballot after you vote? Our team would be happy to show you! During federal elections, staff conduct tours that are open to the public and the media. Residents, groups and students are welcome to attend and learn about the processes that take place before and after Election Day to ensure accuracy and integrity of elections.

Serve as an election judge
Election judges help ensure fair, accurate, secure and accessible elections throughout Missoula County. We are always looking for dedicated members of the community to serve in this vital role. If you’re interested in serving as an election judge, submit the form to sign up for training. The next training will take place for the 2026 elections.
Election judges are champions of the election process. They play a crucial role in ensuring the strength and integrity of the voting process and uphold election law. Judges make sure every person qualified to votes permitted to vote and that every person permitted to vote is qualified to vote.
Am I qualified?
Election judges are required to make a two-year commitment and attend training every other year, so enthusiasm for democracy is a must! Election judges must be 18 years or older and registered to vote in Missoula County.Election judges are paid for their time both on Election Day and for training.

What do election judges do?
- Set up polling places
- Operate voting equipment
- Ensure all qualified voters are permitted to vote
- Distribute ballots to voters
- Assist and provide excellent customer service to all voters
- Close down polling places at 8 p.m. on Election Day
- Transport ballots to the Election Center to be counted
- Attend trainings every other year
