Requesting Public Records
Missoula County uses an online portal to process most* requests for public records. Submit your public records request.

- Birth and death certificates
- Marriage licenses, divorce decrees, wills
- Deeds and property records
- Court records for an individual, including criminal cases, citations, charging/sentencing documents or documents related to a civil case: District Court or Justice Court
Note: Requests for Municipal Court records must go through the City of Missoula - Law enforcement investigative materials, accident reports, booking histories and coroner reports, or if you are a criminal justice agency seeking information, contact the Sheriff's Office.
- Background checks are available through the Montana Dept. of Justice.
Confidential Criminal Justice Information (CCJI)
Information regarding on-going investigations and pending court cases is confidential by law. Disclosure of confidential information almost always requires a court order.
